3 Things that happen when you WAIT for your branding photos.

If you’re waiting for the perfect time, you’ll be waiting forever. Take ACTION, make a MOVE, DO something about it!

I was at a networking meeting this morning and heard a comment I hear very often. “Give me six months and then I’ll be ready for photos.” This got me to thinking. Why do so many people wait for branding photos? Our world would be so much better… People could be making much more money… So much stress would be alleviated… If people just ACTED instead of procrastinating.

YOU ARE YOUR BRAND! YOU! Right now! and six months from now!

Come on. You know you need them. We all do. But how many times have you pushed off getting that new headshot? or postponed your personal branding photography session a couple of months?

Is this you?

  • I need to lose weight.
  • It’s too expensive.
  • I don’t have time.
  • I’m too busy.
  • I look awful in photos.
  • I don’t know what to wear.

In all honesty, I’m guilty of saying all of those! All valid reasons to push back that photography session to get fantastic images that will help you build your brand…or are they? I just wanted to share with you 3 Things that happen when you WAIT for your branding photos.

MONEY! You will lose money! Seriously. YOU ARE YOUR BRAND! We all know that people buy from those they Know, Like & Trust. How the heck can someone KNOW you much less LIKE and TRUST you if they can’t see what you look like? Okay…so you do post selfies regularly. Good job! You’re ahead of the game. But let’s be real here. How can you expect people to take you seriously without professional photos? Would you spend top $$ with someone that only posts selfies? While professional photos cost you money … they also will MAKE you money! Pushing off a branding photography session means you are pushing off potential clients! They need to know YOU… and they need to know you NOW! You will still be you in 6 months. I promise!

Inaction creates stress. Stress creates inaction. You will be on a cycle of this until you decide to put a stop to it! How stressful is it to have to constantly come up with something to post on your social accounts? How often do you do that? Daily? Weekly? Imagine how freeing it would be for you if you had a library of images that you could pull from each time! That library would give you images that you could use for speaking engagements, articles, sales pages, social media posts, and more. How cool would that be?

3. TIME!

So you’ve made it big and now have a big interview on your calendar. Yeah. But they want a headshot to post to their social media so they can promote the interview. YIKES! You don’t have one! or worse…you have an old one. Now you have to scramble around, find a photographer that has availability quickly, hire a Hair & Makeup artist to make you look at your best, shop for a new outfit, do the photo shoot, go over a bunch of photos to find the best one, wait for the photographer to edit and get back to you and THEN you can send in that headshot so they can market your upcoming interview.

BUT! What if you’ve been proactive and had a personal branding shoot done quarterly? VOILA! You already have the images needed…you simply have to pull them up and hit send! DONE! No taking the time to scramble around.

When people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65% of the information three days later. (Source: HubSpot)

Investing in quality photos that convey your authentic self is absolutely a MUST if you want to quickly convey the personality of your brand. Today is a world of social media. People are also very visual. They retain more things if it is paired with visual content.
